Phoenix Pack #4
It happens whenever wolf shifter Roni Axton is near Marcus Fuller: a crackle of sexual awareness that’s intoxicating…and deeply annoying. Marcus is a pack enforcer who oozes power, but Roni is lethal in her own right—nothing like the flirty females who flock around him. Even still, his possessive gaze makes one thing clear. Marcus has singled her out for seduction, and he wants to make her sit up and beg.
No matter how aloof and unfazed Roni acts, Marcus can tell she wants him. When a brutal attack by a jackal pack forces them to work together, it’s the perfect opportunity for Marcus to chip away at her defenses—until he falls into his own trap, completely unprepared for the intensity of their connection. Roni is the only one who’s ever seen past his shifter charm and discovered the man hiding beneath it. And for Marcus, claiming Roni once will mean needing her forever
Character Interview with Roni and Marcus
Home Is Where the Wine Is Book Blog is beyond excited to have here today Roni and Marcus from Suzanne Wright’s fourth installment in the Phoenix Pack series, Dark Instincts.
Thank you so for this interview, Roni and Marcus. Now that the book has been written, do you feel you were fairly portrayed or would you like to set anything straight with your readers?
Roni: Personally, I think there were too many insinuations that I was – on some level – nice. I don’t know why that is.
Marcus: You are nice. Sometimes. To a select few people. Anyway, I didn’t like that I came across as a bit of a scavenger. I don’t eat that much. Why are you looking at me like that? I don’t.
Roni we know that you love your useless factoids and lollipops. Any particular flavor that you like more?
Roni: Blackcurrant. And vanilla.
Marcus who knew you had such an insatiable appetite! What’s your favorite food and do you consider yourself a good cook?
Marcus: You’re calling me a scavenger too? Great. Well, to answer your question, my favorite food is chocolate cake. No, I’m not good in the kitchen at all. That’s why I go to Grace or to see my sisters.
Now that you are happily mated what would say is one of your mate’s best and worst traits?
Roni: Marcus’ best trait…I like the fact that he’s supremely confident in his own skin. Worst trait…he’s not very good at sharing food.
Marcus: Roni’s best trait is her ass. Her worst is that she’s a cake-stealer.
Roni we all know that in the past Trick and Marcus liked to tickle each other’s fancy on occasion. What does your wolf feel about Trick now that you are mated?
Roni: Now that we’re mated, me and my wolf feel more secure so I don’t mind so much. I like Trick, and so does my wolf. She’d just like him a whole lot more if he’d never touched Marcus.
This question is for both of you. Do you think there will be any pups in the future?
Roni: I can’t believe you would ever wish me on any child.
Marcus: Yes, there will be pups. Roni just has to see that having a warped mother doesn’t mean she’ll be one.
Ok one last question that I’m sure all the readers would love to hear your take on. Do you honestly think Dominic will ever be mating material?
Roni: Um…if his mate likes cheesy lines and emotionally immature people, sure. But then, a lot of guys are emotionally immature.
Marcus: I’m picking up on your insinuation, Roni, and I don’t care for it. As for Dominic, he’s mating material, he’s just not ready to be mated. But when it happens, he’ll be as committed to his mate as the rest of us are to ours.
Another crazy intense sexy 5 STAR Phoenix pack installment.
This is the fourth book in the Phoenix Pack series. Suzanne plans on giving the Mercury pack their own series as well (super excited about this!) started with Derren. The first Mercury pack book releases September 29, 2015.
Dark Instincts draws you in from the very first chapter. Roni, if you remember, is Nick’s sister and stayed in wolf form for most of the third book so we knew very little abut her. I didn’t know if I liked the idea of her and Marcus together. I would have almost bet money that she would end up with Dominic, but that is what I love about Suzanne’s writing. She could make you fall in love with Satan himself. It’s infectious. Humorous and down right naughty at times.
Roni is now a Mercury pack enforcer and one bad ass chick. She is guarded and arrogant at times. Loves lollipops and useless factoids and hates small talk and touchy feely people. Marcus loves to flirt with her. He is bound and determined to break through that tough girl persona that she wears so well.
After being placed together to help find the people responsible for the near kidnapping of Trey and Taryn’s son Kye, she finds her attraction for this tall dark and handsome shifter growing.
After many long agonizing chapters, Roni and Marcus FINALLY succumb to their growing needs and find themselves falling, or crashing rather into each other’s arms. Meanwhile a war is going on around them that if the Mercury and Phoenix pack don’t stop will inevitably end with a lot of shifters and humans getting hurt.
Happy and mated. Now that he has her he will stop at nothing to keep her but when her life is threatened he stands to lose everything.
Then WHAM the ending is INTENSE. You will not be able to move or breath until you read the outcome.
Favorite part: The McDonald’s French fry scene
“I’ll have you, Roni,” he rumbled. “Even if it kills me, I’ll have you.” It was a promise.
