It’s been six weeks since angels of the apocalypse descended to demolish the modern world. Street gangs rule the day while fear and superstition rule the night. When warrior angels fly away with a helpless little girl, her seventeen-year-old sister Penryn will do anything to get her back.
Anything, including making a deal with an enemy angel.
Raffe is a warrior who lies broken and wingless on the street. After eons of fighting his own battles, he finds himself being rescued from a desperate situation by a half-starved teenage girl.
Traveling through a dark and twisted Northern California, they have only each other to rely on for survival. Together, they journey toward the angels’ stronghold in San Francisco where she’ll risk everything to rescue her sister and he’ll put himself at the mercy of his greatest enemies for the chance to be made whole again

My Rating: 5 HUGE stars

Now this is what I’m talking about!  If you love The Walking Dead and Arrow then you will freaking go ballistic for this one. It’s got action and suspense with a touch of romance. UNPUTDOWNABLE!

Seventeen year old Penryn is running for her life along with Paige, her handicapped sister and her somewhat psychotic mother they struggle to stay hidden from other refugees and raid gangs. When suddenly the sky opens up and pure hell falls through.  Angels…not the cute cherub halo kind I’m taking Fallen…black bat wings…evil bastards.  No one knows what caused them to appear.  Some think it to be the start of the apocalypse but Penryn doesn’t care.  She just wants to save her family. They try to stay hidden behind abandoned cars and watch the terror unfold in front of them.

Penryn has never seen an Angel before but she knows this glorious beautiful white winged creature is fighting for his life.  The Fallen have cut off his wings and it’s only a matter of time before they finish him.  So she saves him.  Picking up a sword she was never meant to hold, she slides it to him.  The action gets the attention of the Fallen and even though the white winged one manages to fend them off they capture Paige.

Now Penryn is desperate to save Paige and this Angel, who goes by Raffe, is the only one that knows where they have taken her.  She seeks refuge in an old office building and starts the long process of healing him the best she can. Finally with some persistence and handy use of scissors, he agrees to help her but doesn’t think that they will find her alive.

After a long journey they end up in Aerie.  A secret place where the angels reside.  To get in you must be an Angel or escorted by one.  Well Raffe is technically not an angel anymore since his wings got cut off so he takes his old wings and affixes them to his back under a jacket to make it appear that he is is still “together.”

Once in, Penryn and Raffe soon learn of the horrors that go on inside the aerie.  And when a surgeon agrees to sew Raffe’s wings back on things do not work out as planned.

Secrets are revealed and new obstacles arise.  In the end Penryn’s life is in danger and the future of Raffee is at risk.

Crazy epic action scenes in the end.  WOW.

Favorite Scene: When she finds Paige in the lab.

Favorite Quote:

Fear is contagious. Maybe it’s something that’s evolved from our primeval days when your survival odds were better if you picked up on your buddy’s fear without wasting time to discuss it. Or maybe I’m sensing something directly.  Something horrifying that my reptile brain recognizes.
