Wow this story was fabulous!
I was optimistic at first about this book. A witch an a gargoyle? But WOW was pleasantly surprised. Vincent’s soft spoken gentle character won me over immediately. I also equally loved Ash…I admit I think he was my favorite.
The storyline was brilliant. It was like reading two books in one. You got to follow both love stories as they unfolded and I honestly didn’t know what side to cheer for at times.
The book blurb only gave you a fraction of the story. Kara and Ash actually took me by surprise. Kara, an angel is tasked with delivering Noir a mystical hourglass. When she is first confronted by the demon Ash, he is determined to steal it from her. What he doesn’t expect is how much he is drawn to her and her beauty and innocence. She leaves him in a big pile of mush. But in the end it is her that must save him.
But when Vincent revealed himself to Noir I was HOOKED. The story immediately picked up and had me glued to the pages through the duration of it.
Final Thoughts: One of my only complaints with the writing was the over obsessive use of exclamation points. I’m hoping it was the translation from German to English. Usually people don’t shout as much in their thoughts and it became somewhat of a irritant but thank goodness it went away about thirty percent into the book. Also being 460 pages its a long read but well worth the time.
He was her shadow, her dark guardian angel.
“You deserve better, my little witch.” He reared up and pulled at the ropes. “Somebody to pleasure you, teach you how good it can be.” You deserve someone who cares for you, loves you, adores you, takes long walks with you, give you flowers, visits the theater with you, and grants you every wish.
“Because I’m not longer who I once was. Neither the demon, nor the angel. I’ve changed,” he said ever so softly. “And whether you believe me or not…I love you.”
