The vampires of New York City are breathing easier after the demise of the tyrannical former head of the Vampire Council, Goran. Under Rohnert, the revered and newly ascended leader, their future looks promising. However, an unknown enemy is manipulating events, killing humans and vampires alike, and exposing their secrets to the human world.
This is bad news for new vampire Cyrus and his band of fighters at Tack Enterprises. Events derail his plans to find Zane, the sadistic vampire who tortured Cyrus and forced immortality on him. Armed with hatred deep in his bones, all Cyrus cares about is getting even, and Zane has it coming. Cyrus soon finds himself torn between the crippling desire for revenge and his responsibility to his friends. When he begins to spend time in the company of the beautiful and pureblooded vampire, Isidora, her presence in his life makes him rethink his priorities. Isidora is able to read minds. The thoughts she hears from the respected and irresistible vampire, Cyrus,
are filled with both anger towards Zane and a deep admiration for her. Being closeted all her life, Issy has no idea what to do in the face of the outside world’s war, death, and challenges. One thing is clear. She craves Cyrus, but his need for vengeance is clouding his mind. After discovering a previously hidden family member and being called to serve the Council, Issy is at a crossroads in her life and struggles to find the right path.
Both vampires face tough choices. Should Issy pursue her feelings for Cyrus or wait until he can return her affection? Will Cyrus deny his attraction to Isidora so he can kill the man who made his life a living hell on earth? Every decision leads to a reckoning.

With Isidora in his arms, Cyrus found comfort from the torture of his nightmares and his past. The warmth of her touch and the sweetness of her kisses made him think of nothing but the present and the desire he had long denied.

Cyrus had no idea how to take things between them. He had given her rough sex because he had been a jealous ass. If he’d been thinking clearly, he wouldn’t have done it. Yet he had given in to the intense need to possess her. Maybe, if he took things slow and started from the beginning, he could make do with the little kisses and touching. However, the tenting inside his pants was a cause for concern. It didn’t take long for her to notice.

Issy broke their kiss and smiled up at him. She had that gleam in her eyes, the kind that told him she knew what he was thinking. He rotated his hips, trying to create room between their bodies, but she refused to let him go.

“This is a good time to see if we can work things out.”

“Damn it,” Cyrus muttered. Was he ready? The answer was out of his hands. With the massive wood he was sporting, even a long dip in an icebox wouldn’t chill him out. His body needed Issy, and there was no doubt she wanted him, too.

“Cy, you can take charge of everything. We’ll go at your pace and on your terms. I’m here to enjoy the ride.”

This made him smile. “Even if the ride is bumpy?”

“As long as I’m with you.” She tightened her arms around his waist. “I don’t care how rough, how easy—just take me with you.”

~~My Interview with Cyrus and Isidora~~

(Little Italy, NYC)

“Madam do you wish for something to drink?”

“Yes please, I will have a glass of your house Pinot, and can you bring a basket of bread?” I was about to lose it. The aroma of the freshly baked bread was just driving me mad. Well, maybe I was a little nervous about my interview with Cyrus and Issy.

“Just remember they are on a tight schedule” I reread a text that I received just hours before from Harrow. Damn ballbuster.

After my interview with the group about a year ago, they seemed more relaxed in having me around. Cyrus agreed to another interview to discuss their upcoming nuptials. “Keep it light.” I reminded myself.

A black SUV with tinted windows pulled up right outside the restaurant. It was them. My excitement got the best of me and I hurried out to great them. Imagine my surprise when I saw who jumped out from the driver’s side, Tor!

“Well, well, well, fancy seeing you here. So has Harrow added chauffeuring to your list of duties now?” I tease.

Tor rolls his eyes. “This is the easiest. The bastard had me baking cookies for the children.”

I laughed and gave him a warm embrace “How have you been? Is Allison with you?”

Our little reunion is interrupted by the sound of someone tapping the car window.

“The woman stays in the facility, warming my bed.” He winks.

He opens the door and Cyrus is first to step out. I’m stunned by his Adonis-like features and detailed tattoos covering his nicely toned arms.

Damn, he’s hot, I say to myself, forgetting the tiny detail that Issy could read minds. She steps out onto the sidewalk and embraces me.

She whispers, “I say the same thing to myself every single day.”

Tor escorts all of us into the restaurant and stands guard. “Tor, are you a member of the mafia now? Stand down, relax, pull up a seat and have some bread”

He looks at me and chuckled. “Stand down? Where have you been, my little girl?” he escorts us to our table.

I turn my attention to Cyrus and Issy

“Thank you so much for agreeing to meet with me, I know you must be so busy with all that has been going on within Tack and putting together a wedding but I need to know, have you set the date for the wedding?”

“I don’t see what the big fuss is all about. Vegas is good enough for me,” Cyrus gazed lovingly at Issy, then added, “well, I take that back. Since she’s royal blood, we need to follow tradition.”

“Tradition? Can you tell me a little bit about it?”

“The shaman performs the rite. It usually happens in the late evening. Lots of candles, chanting and then we have a little gathering afterward.” Issy buzzes with excitement.

“How has your life changed in the past year? Have you adjusted to life within the facility? Which one of the women at the facility have you become closest to?”

“The changes were shocking in the beginning. First of all, I have to wear pants.” She giggles. “My father must be turning in his grave right now.” Her face registers sadness for a brief moment, then she sighs. “The women are all very helpful, especially Jordan. But since she’s a fighter and taking care of Gail, who we know is a handful, I don’t get to see her as much. I spend a lot of time with Linda, Cyrus’ sister. We’re very close.”

“I have to say that I was thrilled when Lorenz told me that you have taken Sawyer under your wing. How is he doing?

Issy’s eyes sparkles at the mention of the young vampire. “He’s great. I love taking care of him.”

“Is he still having horrible nightmares?”

Cyrus nods. “Yeah, well, we’re dealing with it. He’s a trooper though. Love that kid.”

“Cyrus, I have a question for you.”

“I hope a have an answer for you.” He laughs.

“I’m sure that life as a vampire is not easy.”

“It’s all right.”

“You don’t look too happy about it.”

“Well, I have no choice in the matter now do I?”

I nod. “If you were given the opportunity to stay a vampire or become human again, which would you choose?”

He strokes his chin and smiles at his mate. “I’d stay a vampire so I can keep up with Issy and Sawyer.”

“Here’s a personal question, if you don’t mind.”

“Do I have to answer?” He narrows his eyes. “Go on.”

“I’m aware you hold a lot of anger towards Zane. Believe me, if he were here I’d show him a thing or two. How do you feel knowing that there is a good chance that you will be seeing him on a daily basis at the facility?

“He should wear a helmet because my fury knows no bound.”

We all laugh at this. “Okay, on a lighter note, who is your best man?” Issy? Who’s your maid of honor?

“We don’t do that, but everyone present will be a witness.”

My attention quickly diverted to Tor, something was wrong. “Shit, Cyrus we got trouble. Get the girls to safety”

Shots rang out, screams from panicked tourist filled the streets.

“How did they find us?” Issy turned to Cyrus.

“Jolene I’m sorry about all this, we need to get you to safety. Lorenz will have my head if something happened to you”

“Don’t worry about me, I can protect myself. Let’s go kill some bastards!” I pulled my 9mm from out of my boot and took aim at the figure rushing towards the door.

“Cyrus, I told you to get them out of here. Hell, who gave Jolene a gun?”

“Tor! Behind you,” I shout as I fired at the Neroc who is about to tear Tor in two. The bullet went right between the bastards eyes. The damn thing was ugly. It was definitely what nightmares were made of. I stood over the barely breathing creature staring straight into its eyes, “Don’t you mess with my friends ever again” I shot him straight in the chest.

Tor stands gaping at me.

“You can thank me later, let’s get you to safety. Allison would kill me if something happened to you.” I winked.

“Where did you learn to shoot like that?”

“It’s in my blood. My dad is a retired cop and Marine. Plus Rohnert made me go the firing range with Jordan. Enough chitchat. Let’s do this”

Cyrus and Issy were clearly entertained and chuckled.

“OK. Well then follow my lead and don’t get yourself killed!” Tor’s eye burned into mine. He is dead serious, and the last thing I wanted to do was piss off a vampire. Hot or not, they mean business.

Following him out of the restaurant, we take cover from behind a vehicle. The bullets are zipping by. Taking a cue from Tor, we sprang out of our hiding spot and start kicking ass. He takes down two of the horrid looking creatures while I killed another.

“Take that you piece of shit” I returned the gun inside my boot and grin at Tor.

“Remind me to never mess with you”

“They should know better than to interrupt a girl while she’s having wine. That was a hundred-dollar bottle of Pinot, just wasted”

“Well by the looks of them, you showed them a thing or two. Bye girl see you next time”

“Give the gang my love”

“Will do”
